So, I was checking my bank account the other day and saw something really weird. For the last six months, there’s been a ton of cash spent at kids’ stores by my wife. One morning, I acted like I was heading to work, but instead, I just hung around the corner. Didn’t have to wait long. She leaves, hops in her car, and drives away. I follow at a distance. She ends up parking in front of this house, and this dude comes out with a kid to meet her. I’m trying to get a better look, and then my heart just stops. When I see who it is, I nearly pass out. It’s my brother, Ryan.

Ryan had always been the golden child of our family. Charming, successful, and always the center of attention, he seemed to have it all. After our parents died in a car accident a few years ago, we drifted apart. He moved to a different city, and we only spoke occasionally. So why was my wife meeting him with a child in tow?
